Ophelia definitely didn't self settle and still doesn't. She more than often requires a cuddle or a rock back and forth. If she falls asleep in the car (which is very rare) she the wakes up as soon as the engine has stopped.
A while ago I was asked if I would like to review the Sleepybobo Gerry The Giraffe which is a platinum award winning world first product. It's a portable unit which attaches to most car seats, swinging cribs, rocker chairs, baby bouncers and moses baskets. The Sleepybobo automatically, gently rocks your baby back and forth leaving you hands free.
It has a timer that you can set and therefore will continue to rock for 5, 10, 20 or 30 minutes which will allow you time as a parent to carry on with any other tasks.
It requires 4 D batteries to work. The fact that it runs on batteries means it's portable for you to take anywhere with you such as on holiday or to a relative or friends house.
The Sleepybobo can be easily adjusted to suit whatever product you are using it with. For example if you wanted to change using it from a car seat to a bouncer then you simply extend the neck. There are also extra inserts you can place in it.
The speed at which it moves can also be adjusted. We used this product with Ophelia when she was quite a few months old by which time she already knew what she liked with regards to being rocked to sleep. Whilst the Sleepybobo doesn't always get her off to sleep it does settle her enough to calm her down and keep her contented.
It will automatically rock for 30 minutes. I think this is great for newborns as they won't already have sleep preferences and they would stay sleeping when it switched off. Unfortunately, Ophelia does wake up when it stops but she is now at an age when changes will disturb her.
There is a sound when the rocker is on. It's quite noisy if you're in the same room as it, however it is a similar noise to white noise which is calming and soothing for a baby.
I think the design is very cute and was perfect for us as Ophelia has a safari themed nursery. Eva also loves helping use it with her sister. There's a handy lock button though to stop her from adjusting it when i'm not looking.
Overall, we've enjoyed using the Sleepybobo. It hasn't helped in getting Ophelia to sleep every-time we've used it but it has helped in keeping her settled and entertained when I need to get on with other things. We were only able to use it with a bouncer and a car seat as she'd grown out of her moses basket when we'd received it. I think it would be a great product to have from a newborn age as it could be put to full use and your baby wouldn't have a preference on how they like to be put to sleep.
Have you heard of the product? Do you think it's something you would use?
**We were sent the Sleepybobo for the purpose of this review, all opinions are my own**

ReplyDeleteWow I wish I had this when my kids were younger. Looks so handy.
ReplyDeleteI saw one of these at the baby show and thought it was adorable. The only problem is that babies are not supposed to stay in car seats for long
ReplyDeleteI have heard of this product but no kids yet so not used it but sounds good shame it doesn't help your little one to sleep much
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post. This looks like a great product. Wish I'd had one when my daughter had colic and would only sleep being held or in a sling x

this is a fab idea. When you just need your hands free as a mum haha.
ReplyDeleteWow, this looks great. Never seen anything like this before, but it's a great idea. Shame it makes a lot of noise though, but like you said if it sounds like white nose babies often find that soothing.
ReplyDeleteWow, the giraffe is so cute! Really wish they had fun toys like this when mine were little
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fabulous and how cute does Gerry look! Xx
ReplyDeleteWow, I have never seen anything like it before but it's amazing! Definitely putting it on my wish list for baby no2! Xx
ReplyDeleteThat's an awesome idea. Not sure about bringing up children but I bet my niece would love it and my sis too as it'll keep my niece quiet whilst she does other things haha
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this before, but what a great idea! x
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's the giraffe I have heard of but I have definitely seen something similar. There would definitely have been times in the past I would have considered something like this.
ReplyDeleteNot heard of this before but sounds intriguing. We usually have my son napping in his buggy or his cot so not sure we'd use it much but looks like it could be very useful.
ReplyDeletePart of me is a bit "wow that's lazy parenting" that they've had to make a product like this. But OH MY GOSH!! How useful. Imagine all the things you could get done if you're not sat rocking the car seat.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this before but it's absolutely fabulous. If I have another baby, I'll definitely be getting this xx
