A Bedroom Makeover for Summer

Hubby and I have not changed the theme of our bedroom in over 5 years. I do still like it but I think it's time we had a bedroom makeover for summer. We've made our room look like a hotel room with crisp white sheets and white walls etc. It provides a bright, clean style but sometimes when I look at it I feel like i'm in a hospital rather than a hotel (don't tell the husband as the theme was his idea). I think it's lacking something and with summer right around the corner (well apparently but as I write this it's chucking down with rain) then I think we should add some colour.

We're also in desperate need of new pillows and duvets. Neither of us are getting a decent night's sleep at the moments and even though most of it is just down to being tired, working parents, i'm sure that are pillows also have something to do with it. They aren't exactly the comfiest.

I'd still like to create a calming, peaceful, relaxing vibe to the room. There are quite a few palettes to choose from that work for this such as greys, icy/pale blues, lavender, beige and pale pink.

A bedroom makeover can be quite pricey but I think it can be affordable if we only change the furnishings such as the bedding, curtains and a few photo frames etc. These changes should hopefully achieve a new look and feel to the room.

I'm also keeping an eye out for offers and sales. I recently found some great bedding deals online with Groupon. I never would have thought to browse Groupon for homeware items. I've used them before for meal and beauty deals but I hadn't realised they sell actual products too. Their website has a vast range of deals on getaways, local experiences and restaurants, events, goods and also voucher and discount codes for big companies.

Have you got any ideas how we can create a calming, peaceful look for our bedroom? What colour schemes do you have in your room?
